Was It Worth It?

Yes folks, I am talking In N Out. We waited, as you may know, for about one hour and 45 minutes to eat at In N Out in Draper yesterday, the locations opening day. We are considering camping out over night for the opening of the West Jordan location, just to say we did. So my question is was it worth it? We think so.

We love In N Out burger. It is a regular part of our trips to Disneyland. We almost always stop in either St George or Vegas. It stands alone in quality, taste, and every other burger category. We are not afraid to spend some of out time getting something we like.

Yes, we know we could have waited a week and decreased our wait time, but we view that as having to wait an extra week. Nearly 2 hours is much less time than 1 week.

Critics have accused that we like it so much because it previously was not as accessible to us? Time will tell, but I don't think this is true. Another restaurant we absolutely love is The Waffle House. Unrivaled in waffle making, the closest Waffle House is in Denver. About 4 years ago, Rebecca and I decided to drive to Denver to eat at Waffle House. Denver is an 8 hour drive each way. Luckily, we had friends in Denver to visit as well, so we threw that in there as another reason, but ultimately all we wanted was a waffle and plate of hash browns, diced, covered, and smothered from Waffle House.

Are we the only crazy ones here? I know you all have something equivalent in your lives...and we want to hear them. What would you drive hours for, wait hours for, or do "anything" for? Leave us a comment and tell us what it is you would do and what you would do it for. What would it take? Don't be shy.

If the diet coke bottling plant flooded or was damaged in a storm (like the Eggo factories), I would drive hours and hours to get diet coke.

We have a Waffle House here in our little town of Parker. We've never been. Do you guys wanna come visit and introduce us?

WE have Waffle Houses all over around these parts, and I will say, their peacan waffle is awesome. Just last week Nathan surprised me with a trip just to eat the Chicken and Waffle combo I have coveted for so long. Took an hour to get there, a half hour in line, and about 20 for the food to arrive. TOTALLY worth it!

The In-N-Out hype will die down a LITTLE bit, but not much. We lived by them for 6 years in San Fran and 3 years in Reno. It's always, always super busy. MMMMMmmmmm. So good.

I have waited that long for Cheesecake Factory. It's worth it. But even better is The Crab Cooker in Cali. That's always part of our Disney vacations. It's accross the street from Newport Beach. They have the best crab legs ever. And all of their meals come with cheesy mashed potatoes. Sometimes it frustrates me that you can only get these yummy things at one place. We have taken a day trip to California for Crab Cooker before. Ben was working for Delta so we flew free. So worth it - I would have paid for the flight. Now the issue is more that I have 3 kids. But, yes, there is always a wait and it is always worth it.

We always spend Thanksgiving in St. George 'cause Josh plays comp. soccer and his team participates in the Dixie Cup. Every year we say we are going to In n Out while we're down there, but we never do. It's always lined up out the door. And, honestly, I've never had it so I guess I don't know what I'm missing. Isn't Chatters supposed to be really close? I've had Chatters and to be quite honest, I could almost walk there it's so close, and I've never gone back. Wasn't bad. Just not that good.

Jer and I always say when we are empty nesters, we are going to buy a harley and drive it cross country to eat at all the yummy "one of a kinds."

We extended our Glacier Natl Park drive four hours up into Canada until we were able to locate a Tim Hortons. I saw a news story on their tasty donuts and it was all over from there. I decided I needed to try it!

Totally understand why one would wait the hour and forty five for a burger...at least they're in the sl valley now!

Along the lines of burgers...I would not hesitate to drive to Archer, ID to pick up a Big Jud burger...or if I'm especially hungry, a double Big Jud (which I have never been able to finish off). Two pounds of hamburger is just a little too much for one sitting. The fries are good as is the huckleberry ice cream to top it off. You can get there in about three hours...three mouth watering hours! Well worth it.

I still don't understand the obsession with In & Out - we went in California this past summer and all I can say is ehhh, what's the big deal. I'm more of a fry lover and the fries were pretty nasty.

However, if it was a Legal Seafoods I would drive for hours just for the clam chowder! When Andy and I went to Washington DC a couple of years ago we planned which airport to leave from just so we could stop on the way for 1 more bowl of chowder. Boy do I miss that place!
